When Richard Patrick, founder and frontman of industrial-rock group Filter, finally got to work on his group’s fourth album, he turned to brother duo Robert and Dean DeLeo, both formerly of Stone Temple Pilots, to help him write some of the material. The collaboration left Filter on indefinite hiatus, and birthed Army of Anyone.
The new group, which also features former David Lee Roth Band drummer Ray Luzier, spent most of October playing abbreviated, semi-acoustic sets at radio stations throughout the country to prime the pump for its self-titled debut, and hone its chops for a full-fledged tour that launches Saturday (11/18) in Philadelphia. During their recent stop in Boston, Patrick and Robert DeLeo spoke with us about how they went from being co-writers to bandmates, and discussed AOA’s first album, which lands in stores today (11/14).
